About
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "When a man dies, his acts come to an end except three things - Sadaqah Jariyah (Recurring Charity) or Knowledge by which people benefit or a Pious Child who prays for him."
About the Endowments
Ameerunnisa Begum Sahiba’s Endowments, established in 1812 by Ameerunnisa Begum Sahiba, is a Waqf built on a legacy of compassion, dignity and service to the community. Rooted in early 19th-century Chennai, the Endowment has quietly supported generations through its commitment to social welfare, religious stewardship and community upliftment. What began as a modest initiative has grown into a trusted institution that continues to uphold the values and intent of its founders, with an enduring focus on supporting the underprivileged and preserving sacred community spaces.

The Endowment oversees a wide range of activities today including the management of two historic masjids at Zambazaar and Peter’s Road, the latter adjoining one of Chennai’s most prominent Muslim burial grounds. The Zambazaar Masjid also hosts a Madrasah for Hifz-ul-Qur’an, Tafseer sessions and Islamic education programs. In addition, the Endowment supports scholarships for students, organizes medical camps, provides groceries and clothing to the needy and offers rental housing at nominal rates to ensure stability for families in need. Two centuries later, this legacy of quiet service continues, grounded in faith and carried forward with humility and purpose.
